There are 8 boarding houses for boys and 5 for girls, one of which is dedicated to Sixth Form girls. Each house accommodates around 60 students along with houseparents. All houses feature spacious communal lounges. Rooms are equipped with USB charging stations, Wi-Fi, and are very comfortably furnished. Sixth Form students are encouraged to develop independence, including doing their own laundry. Meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are shared in a stunning 18th-century dining hall, offering a true "Harry Potter" experience! Additionally, each house has its own kitchen facilities.
There are two mandatory exeat weekends per term.
Stowe is undoubtedly one of the most visually stunning boarding schools in Britain. The magnificent manor house is surrounded by 750 hectares of parkland, complete with pagodas, small lakes, sports fields, stables, and its own golf course. It doesn’t get more beautiful than this!
Art and music are areas where Stowe truly shines. Each year, Stoics (as Stowe students are known) perform numerous public concerts—sometimes as many as four per week. Helping students reach their full musical potential in rock, pop, jazz, or classical music is one of the school's key goals. Art offerings range from traditional drawing and painting to 3D art, ICT, printing, and computer-aided design (CAD). The students' artwork is truly impressive!
When it comes to drama, Stowe boasts some very famous alumni, including Henry Cavill (Superman) and Miranda Rayson (Doctor Who). The school excels in this area as well.
Although Stowe is not a sports powerhouse, its sports program is outstanding. Activities range from basketball and badminton to cross-country riding at the on-site equestrian center, dancing, swimming in the indoor pool, fishing at a nearby lake, and golf on the school's own 9-hole course.
Stowe has a reputation for attracting a somewhat snobby crowd. However, this doesn’t align with our personal experience: during our visits to the school, we met exclusively friendly and welcoming children!
