Summer schools

Dip your toe into a boarding experience

A summer school in the UK is a wonderful way to get a first taste of boarding school life – completely without obligation. Here's what you need to know:

  1. How long are they?  Most programmes are between 2-4 weeks
  2. What's on offer?  Engaging English language lessons, a wide range of activities like horse riding, football,  tennis, drama, music, art or debating
  3. How much do they cost? Most programmes charge between £1.000-£1.500 for one week
  4. How does von Bülow Education help? We share a short-list of suitable programmes and connect you with the operator for no charge. However we do not offer consulations.

3-4 Weeks

Close to the real thing

If you want something that's closer to the real thing, then a short boarding school stay will be for you.

A select group of British boarding schools offers stays of 3-4 weeks at the end of the summer term. Pupils join normal school classes and activities. They live in boarding houses and share rooms. Just like the real deal.

One Term

The immersive short stay

If you want a genuine boarding school experience lasting around 2.5 to 3 months, then a one-term stay is the ideal choice.

We work with over 20 renowned schools offering this option. Pupils don’t just attend classes – they become part of the school community. They live on campus, join regular lessons and extracurriculars, and take part in trips and events, just like full-time boarders.

Pathway courses: stays between school and university

Sometimes, the perfect next step after finishing secondary school is a stay abroad on a pathway course. These programmes are designed to give young people time and space for orientation while strengthening their academic English and subject knowledge.

Students live in an international environment, experience independence in a safe setting, and prepare themselves for future studies—whether at a British university, another international institution, or back home. A pathway course can be the ideal bridge between school and higher education.
