Oswestry School makes a point of being a non-selective. The school believes that character-building, creative confidence and kindness are on par with academic ability, and look for candidates accordingly. Given this, the school's results are noteworthy: in 2023, 35% of GCSE grades were 9-7 and 30% of A-Level grades A.
Oswestry School takes pride in its amazing SEN provision and overall support for pupils.
Languages on offer are German, Spanish, French and Latin.
36% of pupils are full boarders. The three boarding houses are cozy and pupils in the senior years share with one other person. The houseparents are exceptionally friendly and supportive!
Exeat weekends exist but are not compulsory.
The school's amazing pastoral care, overall friendliness and provision of individual support. We don't know many other schools that go above and beyond the call of duty to make pupils feel supported and comfortable the way Oswestry School does!
Oswestry School's many outdoors activities are excellent. Being rurally based on the boarder to Wales, pupils go mountain-biking, white-water kayaking, rock-climbing, caving and sailing. This trains pupils endurance and resilience and allows them to forge friendships for life.
We'd prefer a few more boarders. However the school makes an amazing effort to integrate boarders and day pupils. And to great success!
