Academics:

GCSEs and A-Levels on offer.

Lancing College is moderately selective and achieved a highly respectable 39% 8-9 grades in their GCSEs and 50% A-grades in their A-Levels in 2024.

Next to first-rate teaching of the classic curriculum, the school fosters intellectual curiosity through stimulating extra initiatives like writing a mini-dissertation about a topic of interest for one week.

Lancing College has German, French, Spanish, Mandarin, Greek and Latin on offer.

Boarding:

60% of pupils board and at least 300 pupils remain in school over the weekend. The boarding houses have recently all been refurbished and are beautiful. Two to a room is normal; from Y11 single rooms likely! 70% of teachers live onsite and are accessible to pupils after school.

Exeat weekends are compulsory.

Strengths:

The school itself! A gorgeous 19th century campus, complete with its own cathedral. It does not get any more 'hogwartian'! Facilities are excellent also, with state-of-the-art sports and art. The school even has a little farm!

Sports is very strong at Lancing College. Huge on football, hockey, netball, tennis and cricket. Big on fencing, badminton, dance (ballet, modern etc), swimming (indoor pool), rowing (own boathouse), sailing, water polo, shooting and equestrian (own equestrian center). Just to name a few.

The creative offer here is very strong. The art department is one of the best we know, complete with printing press, artist-in-residence and photography lab. The pupils' work was simply stunning. Music is excellent with a fabulous choir, orchestra, many bands and real passion. Dance is another forte with strong ballet, jazz and contemporary dance.

Weaknesses:

We've had families with mixed visiting experiences. Some have felt rushed and transactional. That can happen, though we know Lancing College as an extremely hospitable and friendly place.
