Ampleforth College is a coeducational, full boarding school located in the idyllic, rural Yorkshire countryside. It is a leading Catholic school and imparts Benedictine values to its pupils. The school's location lends itself perfectly to countryside activities like hunting and fishing. Ampleforth College has a broad range of excellent extracurricular activities on offer, including excellent sports, drama, music and the arts.

The Academics
Ampleforth College is relatively non-selective, yet managed to attain a very respectable 43% A-grades at A-Levels in 2024. Next to the usual subjects, the school offers latin and greek, as well as BTecs in hospitality, entrepreneurship and countryside management.
Languages Taught
French, German, Spanish, Greek and Latin.
The Boarding
10 single-sex boarding houses with 60 to 70 pupils each. Boarding houses are cosy and in good repair. Most boarders in senior school have either single rooms or share with one other pupil.

Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
The many boarders at Ampleforth College is a huge boon, creating a close-knit community and no empty boarding houses on the week-end.
Sports is strong here. 25 sports, including excellent rugby, football,fencing, golf, hockey, tennis and swimming on offer. Country pursuits like riding, fishing, hunting shooting and game-keeping are huge.
Music and art are also very strong. Choral music, orchestras, chamber music and bands all excellent. The Sunley Center of Art and Design is a state-of-the-art space for creative pursuits.
Theatre is another forte. Ampleforth College stages several productions in its 200-capacity theatre and LAMDA lessons are on offer.

Ampleforth Village is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.
