Exeat weekends exist, but pupils can stay at school.
Taunton School's big strength is that it is a happy, modern school. A lot of this is driven by very engaging, passionate teachers and great pastoral care. Further factors are the fact that Taunton School is an international school and embraces everyone with patience and open-mindedness.
We are especially taken with Taunton School's great design and technology department. Here, pupils use state-of-the-art tools like 3D-printers and lazer cutters to come up with wonderful product design prototypes and finished articles. We saw gorgeous, innovative office furniture and even a half-finished e-car! Amazing!
We also like the school's Horizons programme, a comprehensive extracurricular programme spanning everything from debating to computer programming. Most of the activities are self-directed, which teaches pupils leadership- and team-working skills along with the activity at hand.
The campus itself might lack the grandeur and visual charme of other IB schools further East. But we say: don't judge a school by its buildings!
