Sibford School

Sibford School is rightly feted for its inclusive, supportive approach to education. Pupils with learning difficulties feel as valued here as the academic high-fliers. The source of this is a teaching brass trained in SEN methods, and a warm, friendly atmosphere throughout the school. A focus on outdoors-activities rounds this approach off perfectly.

The Details

The Academics:

A-Levels, BTecs and GCSEs on offer.

Sibford School is a non-selective school. In 2024 the school achieved 54% A-B grades at A-level. These results are very good, but then the point of Sibford isn't academic hot-housery. It is about giving every child exactly the support he or she needs.

The SEN department is very strong here and over 20% of pupils receive some form of support, whether for dyslexia, dyspraxia or language needs.

French, Spanish and German are offered as language options.

Boarding:

30% of pupils board, some do flexi boarding.

There are three boarding houses, all functional yet homely. Sixth formers have one or two to a room, in the younger houses it may be up to four to a room.

Exeat weekends exist, but are optional.

Strengths:

Sibford School's great strength is its ability and willingness to help individual pupils exactly when and where they need it most. The school's amazing SEN provision, its nurturing and caring teachers, tutors and houseparents, as well as the school's Quaker ethos helps.

The school has a decent extracurricular offer including good sports, outdoors activities, drama and music. Their approach is distinctly egalitarian, however, with everyone getting a chance to get involved in pretty much everything - if they choose to!
