With its non-selective admissions procedure, Scarborough College relieves students from the pressure of a purely academically oriented environment. This school is particularly suitable for students interested in sports, arts, and a variety of outdoor activities.
GCSE and IB levels are offered, in which outstanding results are achieved. For the IB, the average was 33, compared to the global average of 30.
There are provisions for students with learning difficulties, including SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and LSN (Learning Support Needs), as well as for conditions such as Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, as well as for hearing and physical impairments.
A total of up to 155 children from 30 nations live in various houses, each supervised by two house parents.
Scarborough College has three boarding houses located in a quiet residential area outside the city center, in close proximity to the campus. The historic buildings from the Georgian and Victorian eras are breathtaking, cozy, and evoke a homely feeling.
Up to 20 of the younger boys reside in Denys Crews. Bankory offers 32 single rooms with private bathrooms for the senior and Sixth Form boys. Up to 34 girls can live in Willersley. Willersley has a welcoming lounge, a drawing room, a library, and a piano, spread over three floors with different room types, some of which are also single rooms.
Up to 60 Sixth Form students live in the Weaponness house in single rooms, many of which have a private bathroom, usually allocated to the Upper Sixth.
There are no exeat weekends, so parents do not have to worry about where their child goes on weekends when the school is closed. Accommodation is provided throughout the academic year.
Scarborough College is among the more affordable boarding schools in the UK, without significantly compromising on quality. A great value for money, in our opinion!
The school offers the International Baccalaureate as a qualification, and thus can offer students coming for the 11th grade six subjects (as opposed to the four subjects one would get at a boarding school offering A-Levels).
The hockey here is very good!
The school often allows shorter stays from two terms and offers a particularly friendly school atmosphere, in which children feel comfortable very quickly.
Compared to other British boarding schools, the school may not be quite as visually attractive. However, the facilities are in very good condition.
