GCSEs, and the IB on offer.
King William's College is non-selective, yet achieves considerable results, especially in the IB: in 2023 the average IB score was 32 points with 9 students achieving over 40 points, putting them in the top 5% worldwide.
Language-wise there is German, French, Spanish and Latin on offer.
20% of pupils are boarders. That might not be a lot, but what the school lacks in boarders, it more than makes up for by integrating boarders and day pupils. Pupils we place here tell us about regular invites on weekends to the homes of day pupils.
Two boarding houses, located right by the school. Pupils either share with one other pupil or room solo. A busy after-school and weekend programme includes nature trips, island tours, visits to Manchester, London and Liverpool, and outdoor activities such as karting and mountain-biking.
Exeat weekends exist but are not compulsory.
Next to the excellent IB provision, we value King William's College for its stunning location on the beautiful Isle of Man, as well the school's close ties to the local community. Pupils attend music lessons, compete in sports and perform community service in the towns adjacent to school. The relationship between school and island community is excellent!
The school offers a wide variety of sports, including golf, rock-climbing and sailing alongside extra-curricular activities such as fencing, table-tennis and swimming. The watersports and outdoors activities are the stand-out offers though!
20% boarders is rather low, even with the amazing integration the school offers. We were told that the school is doing its utmost to change this.
