King's Ely is relatively non-selective, yet achieved a respectable 47% A-grades in their A-Levels and 49% 9-7 grades in their GCSEs in 2024.
Latin, Greek, German, French and Spanish are on offer.
40% of pupils are boarders. There are eight boarding and day houses in total, all cozy and brought up to standard.
Boarding houses are clean and comfortable. Boy choristers live in the Choir House during term time, Christmas and Easter holidays, with the housemaster and his wife.
Exeat weekends exist but are not compulsory.
King's Ely is close to beautiful university town Cambridge. Pupils get regular access to Cambridge and in some cases even benefit from the infrastructure and academic offer of the university.
Music is very strong here, especially choir music! Pupils regularly sing in the cathedral services, but also further afield in Cambridge and even London. Over 50% of pupils learn an instrument, and there's a large range of ensembles, choirs and orchestras to participate in.
Sports play an integral part with the classics hockey and rugby on offer, but also rowing taken very seriously. The school has its own boathouse.
We love, the school's outoor pursuits programme, The Ely Scheme, which includes rock climbing, kayaking and major expeditions to the Alps or the Himalayas. The programme is supposed to be fun, but also teach leadership- and teamworking-skills, as well as resilience.
Lastly art and design are strong with lots of pupils going on to study fashion, art and design after school.
Nothing of note to say. We are fans!
