A-Levels and GCSEs on offer. Giggleswick School is relatively non-selective, yet achieved a respectable 31% 9-7 grades at GCSE and 43.5% A-grades at A-Levels in 2024.
The sciences are stong here, and teaching is reputed to have a cross-subject focus and to be rather creative.
Languages on offer are Latin, German and French.
50% of pupils are boarders, most of which full, some flexi. Six senior boarding houses. Girls boarding is more up-to-date than the boys, but all facilities practical and cozy. From Y10 on pupils share with one other pupil, some get single rooms.
Exeat weekends exist, but pupils can stay at the school.
Giggleswick School's location in the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales is the single biggest strength. The natural scenery is stunning and outdoors-activities abound. Whether it's cross-country, mountain-biking or simply going for a walk, pupils will benefit from the great outdoors here.
We loved Giggleswick School's art and design departments. Amazing facilities, quirky, innovative projects and great results. Pupils also leave to some pretty impressive design-led companies. One of our favorites!
Theatre is another key strength. The 200-seater Richard Whiteley theatre is the emotional heart of the school. Anything from Shakespeare to Stoppard is performed in the over ten major productions each year.
Lastly, music is a forte here with an orchestra, big band, many rock bands and a choir.
Apart from the boys boarding facilities which are due for an upgrade, we cannot fault Giggleswick School!
