Exeat weekends are compulsory.
Clifton College benefits hugely from being part of vibrant university town Bristol and the beautiful environment in this part of England. Pupils get access to culture, entertainment and amenities in town, and use the proximity to water for great sailing, canoeing and kayaking.
Sports is big here with hockey, athletics, sailing, cricket and rugby deserving special mentions. But there is a lot more: from water polo to fencing there will be something for everyone.
Music is also strong here with orchestras, jazz-, blues- and rock bands, choirs, ensembles and huge support from very passionate music teachers.
The 'performing arts' theatre and dance also deserve a mention. 40 (!) productions a year with lots of Shakespeare and recently a stunning Miss Saigon. The revamped dance studio hosts classical and modern dance classes.
The compulsory exeat weekends mean that pupils have to leave the school for those weekends, which can create logistical challenges for some families.
