Claremont School

Claremont Senior School is a fairly young school. Founded in 2011 in the historic village of Bodiam, it's a refreshingly modern, down-to-earth school far away from the bustling city life and yet only about an hour and a half from London. The school enjoys a very good reputation in the visual and performing arts and especially in football with its own top-class football academy. At Claremont, however, great importance is attached to striking a balance and so students don't only achieve their football dreams, but their success in academic terms is also ensured.
Von Bülow Education placed 1 pupils here in 2023.

What we think
A very friendly school which is particularly suitable for creatives and football enthusiasts.

The Details

Academics:

GCSEs and A-levels are offered as school diplomas. In 2021, Claremont School was rated "outstanding" in all categories by Ofsted for the fifth time in a row and was voted Independent School of the Year for the performing arts.

Although Claremont School is not selective, its exam results are very good. In the 2023 school year, 44 percent of A-level students graduated with an A grade and 65 percent of the students with A to B. At GCSE, 35 percent graduated with 9 to 7. Graduates of the football academy play in football clubs all over the UK and Europe.

Boarding:

30% of the students are boarding. Most of them share their room with one or two other roommates.

The two boarding houses are located outside the school grounds and can be reached by school bus in 20 minutes. The girls and juniors live at Pyke House in the middle of the medieval village of Battle, just five minutes from the train station. The boys from Year 9 and up live in Clyde House, just a five-minute walk from the sea.

Both boarding houses are newly renovated and have all the amenities. A varied programme of weekend activities with excursions and many offers in a multicultural environment as well as access to all the sports facilities will stop them getting bored.

The school does not have exeat weekends.

Strengths:

Claremont School is a particularly friendly, approachable school where our students feel at home in a very short time. The school's rather small size and the very friendly, supportive staff contribute significantly to this.

Clearly, football is very, very good here. Claremont has its own football academy with 12 boys' teams and one girls' team. The school maintains excellent contacts with the Premier League football club Brighton FC.

The performing arts around music, dance and theatre are another mainstay of the school. Last but not least, this is why the school was also awarded an "Independent School of the Year for the Performing Arts" Award in 2021.

Weaknesses:

The boarding school accommodation is located outside the campus, which doesn't suit every family.
