The school offers GCSEs, A-Levels, and the IB.
Bryanston School is not an especially selective school, so punches above its weight considering: In 2024, its GCSE results yielded 43% 9-7 grades, its A-Levels 33% A-grades and its still relatively nascent IB programme an average of 38 points (out of a total of 45 and a with a world average of 30 points).
The school's explicit academic focus is on developing pupils' self-reliance. Pupils get bigger assignments to work on, which encourages getting stuck in and rewards pupils with richer, more rewarding learning experiences.
A Bryanston School specialty are the departmental libraries with specialist teachers on support duty. Pupils have access to these resources all day long. Pupils see their tutors weekly to discuss their academic progress.
85% of pupils board, most of them all week.
Boarding accommodation consists of 12 cozy, single-sex boarding houses.
Weekends are busy with over 100 activities from archery to equestrian, as well as regular outings to the sea of London on offer.
Exeat weekends exist and are compulsory.
Bryanston School's big forte is the breathtaking range of amazing creative pursuits on offer. The Don Potter Art Department has specialist teachers on call for drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography and textiles. The Tom Wheare Music Department sports two state-of-the-art record studios and is host to over 600 music lessons a week! The Design and Technology Department is one of the best we know in the UK, complete with 3-D and lazer printers.
Sports is also strong here, with special mentions for athletics (elite programme!) tennis, and equestrian (a beautiful equestrian center!)
The individual attention and support pupils get is something English boarding schools are famous for. Bryanston ups the ante though with its unique blend of tutorials and self-reliance initiatives.
Oh, and the school is simply stunningly beautiful!
The self-reliance approach with bigger assignments can be a bigger challenge for less self-disciplined pupils.
The school's progressive stance on education is sometimes seen as laissez faire. This is not borne out by our pupils who, if anything, feel too closely monitored at times.
