Bradfield College

Bradfield College is set in 250 acres of pristine Berkshire countryside and sports a beautiful campus of Victorian and modern buildings. The school is renowned for excellent sports, especially football. To reduce the school to this, however, would be a gross injustice: Bradfield College is going from strength to strength academically with consistently excellent GCSE, A-Level and IB results. Moreover, there is an enviable range of extracurricular activities on offer, including great drama in its very own 1000-capacity Greek theatre. There is something for everyone and no one will be bored here!

Natural sciences strong thanks to the amazing, state-of-the-art Blackburn Science Center. More exotic subjects like film studies, textiles and photography on also available.

Boarding:

95% of pupils board, so Bradfield College is close to a full boarding school. All Year 9 pupils will start out together in Faulkner's House for social cohesion within this year-group. Then they move on to the 11 other single-sex houses. The boarding houses are first-rate - comfortable, well-kept and modern - some of the best we know. Pupils share with one or two others.

Exeat weekends are compulsory.

Strengths:

Bradfield College has only 70 day pupils. Being nearly full boarding creates a very close-knit school community where everyone knows and supports each other.

Sports is huge at Bradfield College. Football, tennis, swimming and hockey stand out in quality, but there's so much more on offer, from polo and golf to sailing and clay pidgeon shooting.

Drama is another highlight with the school's Greek theatre claiming pride-of -place for performances of the Greek myths, via Shakespeare to rock concerts.

Weaknesses:

The close proximity to London makes Bradfield College a popular choice with rich London families. It has been known that pupils on occasion flaunt their wealth at school.

The compulsory exeat weekends mean that pupils have to leave the school for those weekends.
