A-Levels and GCSEs on offer. Ackworth School is non-selective, yet achieved over 33% 9-7 grades at GCSEs, and 12% A-grades at A-Levels in 2024. The school equally supports both academic high-flyers and those in need of more help.
25% of pupils board. Most boarders share with one or two pupils. Exeat week-ends exist, but pupils can stay at the school.
Weekend activities include theatre and sporting events, outdoors activities like camping and mountain-biking and a range of workshops from kite-making to African drumming.
Sports is strong here. Pupils can join intensive training programmes in football, squash and table tennis courtesy of Ackworth School’s sports academies. Over 20 other sports, including basketball, athletics, swimming and volleyball on offer.
Music is another forte. Ackworth School became a Steinway School in January 2019. Pupils have access to 10 Steinway pianos, including 3 grands now.
The Quaker ethos imbues the school with a calm, friendly atmosphere in which pupils feel respected and supported at all times.
Currently only 25% of pupils board. However, Ackworth School does a great job integrating its boarders and connecting them with day pupils.
