The Details

The Academics

The school is not overly academically selective, and students can choose between GCSEs, A-Levels, and the IB. In 2024, the GCSE pass rate was 92%, with a third of students achieving grades between 9 and 7. At A-Levels, 97% passed, and 54% achieved A-B* – the best result since 2015. In the IB, students achieved an average of 31.6 points, well above the global average of 30.32.

Languages Taught

The school offers German, English as a Foreign Language, French and Spanish.

The Boarding

About half of the students live in boarding houses, divided into five charming houses with gardens, cozy living spaces, and truly homely furnishings. Most share a room in pairs or threes, with single rooms available in the final year.

The boarding houses form a small "boarding village." On weekends, excursions, movies, color runs, and trampoline jumping provide variety.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

The Warminster School is a friendly, supportive school with happy pupils. This is largely thanks to the dedicated teachers, warm-hearted houseparents, and helpful tutors. With its IB programme and 20% international student body, Warminster is also inclusive and tolerant.

We are fans of the school’s holistic educational approach. Here, what pupils learn outside the classroom is just as important as the normal lessons. The school has also introduced a ‘life skills’ programme, teaching students abilities such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.

Weaknesses

The campus may lack a bit of glamour, but as we say: don’t judge a school by its buildings!

Location

The Warminster School is located in the town of Warminster in the western English county of Wiltshire. Just half an hour from Bath and well connected to Bristol, London, and the south coast, Warminster offers a perfect mix of nature, culture, and accessibility.
