Bedford School is a boys school with a refreshingly understated vibe. Pupils get ample stimulation in- and outside of the classroom. From golf and rugby, to rifle shooting and pilates, boys of all ilks will find their calling here. Despite the riches on offer, the school manages to remain friendly, warm and grounded.

The Academics
The school offers GCSEs, A-Levels and a few BTecs. Bedford School achieves consistently good academic results. In 2024, its GCSE results yielded 65% 9-7 grades, its A-Levels 46% A grades. Given Bedford's broad intake, this is commendable!
Languages Taught
French, German, Latin and Spanish.
The Boarding
Six boarding houses, all adapted Victorian villas and all feel intimate and cozy. With the town Bedford right there, boarders have ample opportunity to shop.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
Bedford School has a very strong sports offering with rugby, cricket, rowing, swimming and golf especially noteworthy. A broad range of sports including equestrian, sailing and athletics also on offer.
Music is of a very strong calibre here. The new music center is witness to amazing orchestra-, choir-, ensemble- and band performances. A brand new recording studio is also available.
Theatre is strong also with the gorgeous 280-seater theater coming into action with at least one major production per term.
Bedford School is also refreshingly down-to-earth compared to other top boys schools which can feel a bit stuffy at times.
Weaknesses
Bedford School could have a few more boarders for our taste. However, the school makes an amazing effort to bring day and boarding boys together - whenever, whereever.

Bedford School is relatively centrally located in the town of Bedford.
