Uppingham School

Uppingham is a proper boarding school through and through. 89% full boarding, no flexi- or weekly-boarding, house meals rather than canteen dining. The school does this because it believes in it, rather than from expediency. The school’s science department is simply stunning as is most of the rest of the campus. Sports, theatre, and music are all excellent here.

Uppingham School is academically selective and produces consistently strong academic results: in 2024, 52% of A levels were at A-grades.

The school has a deserved reputation for great science teaching, which is in part due to its stunning new science block.

Language-wise, Uppingham School has Latin, Greek, German, Spanish and French on offer.

The school has 15 stunning boarding houses. Particular to Uppingham School is the in-house dining.

Exeat weekends exist and are compulsory at Uppingham School.

Uppingham School is the epitome of a beautiful, traditional English boarding school: stunning campus with a tasteful combination of old and new buildings, full boarding and a dizzying array of excellent academic and extracurricular pursuits. To top this off, the school is at the heart of picturesque market-town Uppingham.

Uppingham School has a deserved reputation for amazing music. The choirs and orchestras are fantastic here; professional musicians regularly teach and perform here; the excellent music department sports a state-of-the-art recording studio and hosts the school's own radio station.

Theatre is also excellent here, with recent productions of Calamity Jane and Miss Saigon getting amazing reviews.

Last but not least, the sports offer is very strong at Uppingham School. The school's new sports center is home to the classic fare of great rugby, hockey and cricket, but also great fencing, fives and badminton.
