A-Levels, GCSEs and many vocational BTecs on offer.
Milton Abbey School does not post exam results for fear that they are too narrow a set of indicators to assess a pupil on. This sums the school up in a nutshell - here it is about kids pursuing their academic passions and playing to their strengths. This is perfect for children with learning difficulties, but also for academic high-flyers. With Milton School's very broad, non-selective intake both ends of the academic spectrum feel at home here!
Milton Abbey School is especially well known for its amazing vocational BTec courses - the so-called 'parallel learning pathways'. Pupils can do these in anything from countryside management to computer games design.
The SEN department is amazing and really at the heart of how Milton supports its pupils.
Languages on offer include German, Spanish and French.
85% of pupils board. No flexi boarding here!
There are five well maintained boarding houses, four for boys and one for girls. Most pupils share with one other; the seniors get single rooms.
Exeat weekends exist but aren't compulsory.
As already mentioned above, Milton Abbey School's strength is its very broad provision of academic options. Pupils can geek out on A-Levels or pursue the vocational pathway courses to suit their needs and passions.
Milton Abbey School's SEN provision is second to none. With at least 30% of pupils with dyslexia, dyspraxia or other forms of learning challenge, the school has a large team of SEN experts to support. The small classes between 6 and 10 pupils help also!
For such a small school, Milton Abbey School has a surprisingly good and broad sports offer including an elite golf and football programme. Sailing, riding, polo, tennis, hockey, netball, lacrosse and many others also on offer.
Thanks to the beautiful rural location, outdoors activities are huge here! The school has its own equestrian center, and hunting, fishing shooting are very popular.
We also love the school's Entrepreneurship in Residence programme. Pupils are encouraged to explore their own business ideas under supervision of successful entrepreneurs. One of our pupils launched his own drone e-commerce business!
The school had a few incidents of bullying a few years back. Thanks to the new headmistress Mrs Fremont-Barnes, the school has dealt with this issue swiftly and comprehensively.
