The school offers GCSEs and A-Levels.
Eastbourne College achieves consistently good academic results. In 2024, its GCSE results yielded 33% 9-7 grades and its A-Levels 24% A-grades. The GCSE results are impressive, also given that the school isn't especially selective.
The maths and science provision is especially noteworthy at Eastbourne College.
Latin, Greek, German, Spanish and French on offer.
49% of pupils board. Five boarding houses exist, three for boys, two for girls. The boarding houses are comfortable and close to school. Single rooms from Y11 onwards.
Exeat weekends are compulsory.
Let's start with the great location: Eastbourne College sits at the heart of sleepy, pretty seaside town Eastbourne. Pupils have access to the town's amenities and the beach is five minutes away on foot. Rather lovely, especially if there are concerns of cabin fever.
Sports is strong here, especially hockey, swimming and dance. 93% of pupils managed to play in some team or another last year! The new £33mio sports center has really put Eastbourne on the map for sports.
The creative pursuits around art and design and technology are another forte of the school. We've been very impressed with both facilities and end-products of pupils' labour of love.
We love Eastbourne College's self-created programme for future medics, in which it teaches and coaches pupils intending to study medicine. We don't know of any other schools offering this genius programme!
Atmosphere-wise, Eastbourne College is refreshingly unpretentious and down-to-earth. Our pupils have really enjoyed their time here!
The compulsory exeat weekends mean that pupils have to leave the school for those weekends, which can prove a hassle for overseas pupils.
