TASIS England is one of five American schools in the UK. A modern, international school, it offers pupils not only the International Baccalaureate (IB) but also the American Advanced Placement (AP). What it may lack in traditional British boarding-school atmosphere, it more than makes up for with its dynamic, international boarding community. Outside the classroom, the emphasis leans towards American traditions – with excellent basketball, baseball and lacrosse on offer.

The Academics
TASIS consistently achieves strong academic results. In 2024, candidates averaged 33 points in the IB – three points above the global average – and the school manages this without imposing particularly strict entry requirements.
Popular subject choices include the sciences, mathematics, business studies and geography.
Languages Taught
German, French and Spanish.
The Boarding
Around a third of pupils board full-time, with 40% of the student body coming from overseas. As with all TASIS facilities, the boarding houses are kept in excellent condition. Boarders usually share a room with a pupil of another nationality – a set-up that reflects the school’s truly international spirit.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
TASIS has a wonderfully supportive, friendly and collaborative school community. The blend of the warmth you’d expect from a British boarding school and the American can-do spirit is genuinely unique.
The school also boasts an impressive Media and Technology Centre, sponsored by tech giant Samsung and equipped with the very latest gadgets. On our last visit to TASIS, we had the chance to admire pupils’ robotics and film projects – both seriously impressive.
And then there’s the location: just 15 minutes from London Heathrow and only 30 minutes from central London. What other boarding school can say that?
Weaknesses
We wouldn’t mind having a few more boarders!

TASIS is located near the village of Thorpe, just 15 minutes from London Heathrow Airport and 30 minutes from central London.
Richmond - 30 min by car
London Centre - 1 hr 45 min by train
